August nightlife at Ontario Parks promises to be exciting.

Join a star party and celebrate the annual Perseid Meteor Shower. At its peak, the shower produces 50 to 100 meteors an hour! Meet spirited characters from Ontario's past. Take a ghost walk. Solve a park mystery and maybe even hear wolves howl. Below is a sampling of evening events at parks across Ontario. For a complete listing, see http://ontarioparks.com/events.

Quetico, Rushing River, Blue Lake, Sleeping Giant, and Halfway Lake Provincial Parks plan stargazing events in Northern Ontario. Quetico's Astronomy Weekend is at the height of the Perseid Shower, August 11 to 14. Members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and their telescopes, will be on hand to give visitors night sky tours. Can't make it north? Head to Eastern Ontario's Charleston Lake Provincial Park. On August 27, expert astronomer and author, Terence Dickinson, will lead a stargazing evening in the park's designated dark sky field. More stargazing ideas are on the Parks Blog at http://www.ontarioparks.com/parksblog/summer-astronomy/.

August evenings will be culturally rich too. Meet a cast of characters including voyageurs, lumberjacks, surveyors and pioneers at Bonnechere Provincial Park's annual Spirit's Night. Take a special tour by flashlight of Canada's largest concentration of First Nations rock carvings at Petroglyphs Provincial Park or join a Bronte Creek Provincial Park ghost walk. Details are on the Parks Blog, http://www.ontarioparks.com/parksblog/spirit-walks-and-storytellers/.

A final decision to host a howl is always made on the morning of, based on weather and scouting by park naturalists. Please check to see if the event is a go before travelling.
