Are you looking for a way to fill your winter calendar? Check out these four essential winter events in Canada:

Snow Polo Tremblant

Modelled after similar tournaments in Switzerland, Mont-Tremblant hosted its inaugural snow polo event in February of 2015. Following the success, for 2016 they’ve upped the ante with international and Canadian teams competing for snow polo supremacy on Lac Tremblant during a three-day event (February 25 to 27). Cheering for the hard-fought polo is an ideal après ski activity, once your quads are scorched from laps on Mont Tremblant Ski Resort’s billowy Les Bouleaux. snowpolotremblant.com

Quetico’s New Log Cabin & XC Event

Ontario’s Quetico Provincial Park has unveiled a newly renovated log cabin at Dawson Trail Campground. Heated by woodstove, this four-person ski-in cabin is a tranquil base to explore the park’s cross-country trails throughout winter. And it’s also the best place to unwind following the Cross Quetico Tour (March 21). This wilderness ski event sees participants sliding along a choice of three routes—35, 45 or 60 km—leading from the town of Atikokan to Dawson Trail Campground. Prince George Iceman

Residents of Northern British Columbia have forged their own take on what a winter multi-sport event should be with the Prince George Iceman. The five-event race kicks off with an eight-kilometre cross-country ski, followed by a 10-km run, then a five-kilometre skate on the Outdoor Ice Oval (12 laps), followed by a five-kilometre run and finishing with an 800-metre swim—in a heated indoor pool. January 24; $40 for individual registration. pgiceman.ca

Canmore Winter Carnival & World Cup Events

Running from February 1 to March 13, the 2016 Canmore Winter Carnival promises to be the best yet—with all the ice carving, dogsledding and snow-sculpting families have come to love. But there are two more big reasons to check out Kannanaskis Country this February and March—the Canmore Nordic Centre is hosting the World Cup Biathlon (February 1 to 7) and the final four races of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup (March 8 to 12)tourismcanmore.com
